OVERVIEW

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most legendary and diverse trekking routes in Nepal, located in the spectacular Annapurna region of the northwestern Himalayas. This world-famous journey, also known as the “Round Annapurna Trek”, circles the entire Annapurna massif and offers an extraordinary blend of high-altitude adventure, cultural discovery, and ever-changing Himalayan landscapes.

This trek is widely considered one of the best trekking experiences in the world because of its incredible geographical diversity. The trail begins in lush subtropical valleys, terraced farmlands, and traditional villages, gradually ascending into alpine forests, deep gorges, and the dry, desert-like terrain of Manang and Mustang. Each day feels completely different, making the journey visually and emotionally unforgettable.

The ultimate highlight of the Annapurna Circuit Trek is crossing the famous Thorong La Pass (5,416 m)—one of the highest trekking passes on earth. Standing at the top offers a powerful sense of achievement along with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan giants.

Throughout the journey, trekkers are rewarded with close-up views of some of the world’s most iconic peaks, including Annapurna I (8,091 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Manaslu, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, and many other snow-covered mountains. Every section of the trail opens new perspectives of the Himalayas.

Beyond natural beauty, this trek is also a deep cultural journey. The route passes through authentic mountain villages inhabited by Gurung, Magar, Thakali, and Manangi communities, where travelers experience warm hospitality, Buddhist monasteries, prayer flags, chortens, and a unique blend of Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

With a well-planned itinerary, proper acclimatization, and professional guidance from Shivadip Travels, the Annapurna Circuit Trek becomes a safe, structured, and life-changing Himalayan adventure. It is ideal for trekkers seeking a perfect balance of challenge, culture, nature, and unforgettable mountain scenery.

After check-in, you can rest or explore the lively streets of Thamel. In the evening, a detailed trek briefing will be conducted covering the route, safety guidelines, and preparation for the journey ahead.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Trek Preparation

Today is dedicated to exploring Kathmandu Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will visit Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Patan Durbar Square, experiencing Nepal’s rich culture, history, and spirituality. Later, final trek preparations and equipment checks will be completed.

Day 3: Drive Kathmandu → Besisahar (760 m)

After breakfast, we begin our scenic drive towards Besisahar, the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit. The journey follows rivers, terraced hills, and traditional villages, offering your first glimpse of rural Nepal. Overnight stay in Besisahar.

Day 4: Drive Besisahar → Chame (2,710 m)

We continue an adventurous off-road jeep drive towards Chame, passing through deep river valleys, waterfalls, and dense forests. As altitude increases, the views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal become more dramatic. Chame is a beautiful mountain settlement surrounded by alpine scenery.

Day 5: Trek Chame → Upper Pisang (3,300 m)

The trekking adventure officially begins today. The trail passes through pine forests, suspension bridges, and charming villages along the Marsyangdi River. Gradually, you will notice the landscape becoming more rugged with spectacular views of Annapurna II and surrounding peaks.

Day 6: Trek Upper Pisang → Manang (3,540 m)

This is one of the most scenic days of the trek. We follow the higher route via Ghyaru and Ngawal villages, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna range. The trail combines cultural villages, ancient monasteries, and dramatic mountain landscapes before reaching the beautiful Manang Valley.

Day 7: Acclimatization Day in Manang (3,540 m)

Day 8: Trek Manang → Yak Kharka (4,050 m)

We gradually ascend through alpine landscapes, crossing yak grazing fields and dry mountain terrain. The air becomes thinner, and the scenery opens into vast Himalayan valleys surrounded by snow peaks. Yak Kharka is a peaceful stop for overnight rest.
